CLEVELAND - Former Cuyahoga County Judge Bridget McCafferty pleaded no contest to one of the two charges she was facing from a traffic incident last month in Cleveland.
McCafferty appeared in Cleveland Municipal Court Thursday morning with her attorney. She entered a guilty plea for slow speed/impeding the flow of traffic. The charge of reckless operation was dropped.
The traffic stop happened July 18 on Interstate 90 eastbound at East 152nd Street.
During the hearing Thursday, her attorney explained she had slowed down to let a funeral procession go by. She was fined $100 plus court costs and will have two points on her license.
McCafferty initially pleaded not guilty to both charges during her arraignment on Aug. 1.
NewsChannel5 investigators uncovered information Wednesday that McCafferty had been living in a halfway house in Cleveland since June, following time she served in prison in connection with the county corruption investigation.
She was found guilty of lying to investigators about conversations she had with former commissioner Jimmy Dimora and former auditor Frank Russo.
