CLEVELAND - Embattled former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Bridget McCafferty will be in court Thursday for a misdemeanor trial.

On July 18, McCafferty was cited with reckless operation and slow speed, Cleveland police said. The traffic stop happened on Interstate 90 eastbound at East 152nd Street.

McCafferty was arraigned on Aug. 1 and pleaded not guilty to all charges. Trial begins Thursday, Aug. 23.

Police said McCafferty was not arrested -- only cited in the case.

McCafferty was previously convicted in the Cuyahoga County corruption investigation. She was sentenced to 14 months in prison at a federal prison facility in Alderson, W.Va., and reported there in September 2011.

In June, Bridget McCafferty became eligible for ‘residential re-retry.’ She was approved and was transferred  from Alderson Federal Prison to a Cleveland-area halfway house.

Pending good behavior, McCafferty is scheduled to be released on Sept. 17.

According to Residential Re-Entry Manager Stephen Armstrong with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, McCafferty’s latest law violations are under investigation to determine if she violated any rules in connection with her residential re-entry program.
