CLEVELAND - There was no time to sleep in this Sunday for well over 1000 motorcyclists. The Cleveland Firefighters Memorial Ride was about to begin.

The ride is open to anyone who wants to ride their motorcycle in honor of fallen firefighters both nationally and locally. Each rider contributes $25.00 and the money raised will help support families of fallen firefighters. Money is also used for college scholarships, and organizations such as the Make-A-Wish foundation.

"Eighty-three firefighters lost their lives last year in the United States. Four of them lost there lives right here in Ohio," said John Kikol, Firefighters Memorial Ride organizer.

Motorcyclists left the Cleveland firefighters memorial near Browns Stadium Sunday morning, May 27. The ride continued through downtown Cleveland, various west side suburbs and ended in Avon Ohio.

This was the eighth year for the Memorial Ride. If you are interested in participating in the organizations other events visit firefightersmemorialride.com
