Man dies in E. 33rd Street and Payne Avenue house fire in Cleveland

CLEVELAND - Cleveland firefighters said a man died in a house fire on E. 33rd Street and Payne Avenue Friday afternoon.

The blaze broke out shortly before 1 p.m. at the two-story home.

Fire investigators said the man was found on the second floor and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead around 2:15 p.m.

The victim was identified as 49-year-old Yanwen Mei, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office said.

Firefighters continue to investigate what caused the blaze. A damage estimate is not known.
