CLEVELAND - Three people were injured when the car they were in crashed into two utility poles and was torn in half, early Monday morning in Cleveland.
According to Cleveland police, the driver was northbound on East 55th Street near Chester Avenue when they lost control. The car skidded for about 100 feet before jumping a sidewalk and striking a utility pole at Perkins Avenue. After striking the first pole, the car crossed over Perkins Avenue and struck a second pole.
According to Cleveland EMS, one person was thrown from the car when the driver lost control on East 55th Street near Perkins Avenue. All three passengers were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.
The rear half of the car was in the middle of East 55th and debris was scattered in all directions near the intersection.
The second utility pole was broken and will need to be replaced.
Police said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
