CLEVELAND - A drunken driver who collided with a RTA bus after trying to run a man down was sentenced to 14 years in jail Wednesday.
On New Year’s Day, James Allen, 39, of Cleveland, tried to hit a 31-year-old man with his car in a driveway on East 117th Street, police said.
They said Allen then fled from officers, leading them on a high speed chase. Allen ran a stop sign at East 130th Street, colliding with a RTA bus causing it to cross into traffic and crash head-on with an SUV.
14 people were injured as a result of the collisions.
Allen pleaded guilty to one count of attempted felonious assault, three counts of aggravated vehicular assault and one count of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs on May 10.
Allen faced a maximum of 27 years in prison.
