CLEVELAND - Everywhere you look and everywhere you go, you will see apartments in downtown Cleveland -- and those apartments are mostly occupied.
There's recently been a spike in apartment occupancy, due to young professionals who work downtown wanting to be close to work and close to many social activities downtown.
Thanks to a growing interest in urban living and major projects such as The Flats development, the new casino and the new Medical Mart -- all under construction -- people want to be a part of Cleveland's blossoming new growth.
Ralph McGreevy, executive vice president of the Northeast Ohio Apartment Association, said the quality of life also draws the people in.
"Downtown has come a long way in the last 10 years. It still has a ways to go but the amenities, the night life, the activities and really, the quality of apartments that are available to people to live downtown are incredible," he said.
Joe Marinucci, chief executive of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance, added, "A lot of young professionals want to be where they're working. As we've grown the downtown work force alot of those are looking for an urban experience, a downtown experience."
