COLUMBUS, Ohio - A consultant has recommended the state delay the opening of two Ohio casinos this year because there would not be adequate time to investigate the facilities for licensing before planned openings.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the consultant on Wednesday recommended the state Casino Control Commission delay until at least June the openings of Rock Ohio Caesars in Cleveland and Penn National Gaming in Toledo.

The consultant, Fredric Gushin of Spectrum Gaming, says the timing of casino openings in Cleveland, planned for March, and Toledo, planned for April, were never approved by the commission.

Commission Chairwoman Jo Ann Davidson says delays are not expected in the late 2012 planned opening of a Columbus casino or the 2013 planned opening of a Cincinnati casino.
