CLEVELAND - Cleveland police are searching for a gunman after a woman was shot and killed early Monday morning on the city's east side.

According to Cleveland police, the shooting happened in the area of East 90th Street and Superior Avenue.

The woman was then taken to the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center by her husband, but was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. from her injuries. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Amy M. Cole, 49, of Cleveland.

The husband reported that the two were in his vehicle, pulled over at E. 90 Street and Superior Avenue when they were approached by a man who demanded the victim's purse. The man filed one shot and then fled.

The shooter is described as a black male, 25-29 years old, 5'10/175 lbs. Police said he wore wire rimmed glasses and had a mustache, though the husband said that the shooter attempted to cover his face with a rag.

So far, no arrests have been made.
