CLEVELAND - For a second year in a row, Cleveland's homicide totals are on the rise.

According to FBI statistics, in 2012, there were 97 murders compared to 74 in 2011.

But officials said the number of people killed is still lower than it used to be. In the 1970s, the number of murders reached beyond 300 in some years.

Cleveland's population was also much larger at that time.
