CLEVELAND - A Cleveland police officer was arrested at the Justice Center Tuesday following an investigation by the department’s Internal Affairs Unit.
Detective Morris Vowell, 47, was arrested on felony charges for unauthorized use of the Law Enforcement Data System (LEADS) information, classified as a fifth-degree felony, according to a release from Cleveland police.
Vowell is accused of performing unauthorized LEADS inquiries and using the information for personal use, police said.
Vowell was hired by the Cleveland Police Department in March 1991. He is currently assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit, and will be suspended from duty without pay, pending the outcome of the charges, the release said.
