CLEVELAND - Cleveland police have identified the 16-year-old female driver who they say hit and killed an 80-year-old woman last month on Lorain Avenue and fled the scene.
The deadly hit-skip happened at Kamm's Corner on Jan. 9 around 7:53 a.m.
Authorities said Maxine Lobins was walking with a walker on the side of the roadway and was hit by the Fairview Park teen in her SUV while trying to cross in the crosswalk.
Authorities said the teen never stopped after hitting Lobins, continuing eastbound on Lorain Avenue.
Lobins was pronounced dead upon arriving to a local hospital following the incident.
Through investigative leads and interviews, police were able to identify the suspect vehicle, a black 2013 GMC Arcadia SUV, and then identify the suspect.
The evidence is being presented to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Officer for review and charges.
At this time, the teen has not been arrested.
Cleveland police thank the community and businesses on Lorain Avenue for helping them piece together the puzzle.
