CLEVELAND - A 21-year veteran of the Cleveland Police Department was arrested on Thursday after being accused of rape.

Patrol Officer Gregory Jones, 47, has been accused of forcing a woman to engage in sexual conduct while off duty, Chief Michael McGrath said. The alleged incident happened on July 13.

Jones was removed from street duty during the investigation. He surrendered to internal affairs investigators after the arrest warrant was issued.

McGrath said Jones is suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.
