CLEVELAND - A Cleveland police officer was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident on Thursday.

Cleveland police said 14-year veteran of the police force Alan Buford faces a felony count of hit-skip after an internal affairs investigation.

Police said Buford caused an accident involving a man riding a scooter back on May 6 near Quincy and East 55th. Buford left the scene of the crash and didn’t call for medical help for the driver of the scooter, according to police.

Buford has been suspended without pay.
