CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Foodbank working to get a new freezer.
The Cleveland Foundation recently announced a grant for $325,000 towards a freezer that will help store fresh produce. However, the Foodbank needs to raise more money before they can buy it.
In the last few years, the need for fresh foods at the Foodbank has skyrocketed. Since building its current facility in 2005, its annual distribution has increased by 15.7 million pounds. The Cleveland Foodbank hopes to increase its annual distribution by another 13 million pounds.
In order to do so, it has to expand its physical capacity to store and distribute more fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as frozen foods. It is currently at its limit in terms of storage space.
