CLEVELAND - A Cleveland firefighter is under investigation following an assault in Cleveland's Warehouse District last month.
According to a Cleveland police report, on Sept. 23 shortly before 1 a.m., a man reportedly punched another man in the face at 1365 W. 6th Street – an address that matches up to a parking lot across from the Starbucks.
The report said the suspect punched and kicked the man several times, causing the victim to become unconscious.
The suspect and an unknown woman jumped into an SUV and fled the scene, the report said.
The victim was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Cleveland Fire Department Public Information Officer Larry Gray confirmed the suspect is a Cleveland firefighter from Station No. 2, and he said an investigation is ongoing at this time.
NewsChannel5 is working to get more details on the case, including whether charges have been filed against the firefighter. We are withholding the suspect's name until we get more information about the case.
