Cleveland firefighter hurt while battling overnight fire

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland firefighter is recovering after getting hurt on the job early Thursday morning.

Shortly before 1 a.m., firefighters responded to reports of a house fire along the 3800 block of Lee Heights Boulevard just south of Invermere Avenue on the east side of Cleveland.

As firefighters arrived, they could see light smoke coming from the one-and-a-half story home. Once inside, they located fire. Within an hour, crews had the blaze contained.

Paramedics tell NewsChannel5 at least one firefighter suffered a shoulder injury while battling the blaze.

Emergency crews rushed the firefighter to South Pointe Hospital in stable condition.
