CLEVELAND - Prosecutors say a Cleveland Clinic emergency room nurse tried to hire a patient for $10,000 in an unsuccessful attempt to kill a woman in a dispute over a home ownership claim.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Andrew Martin of Bristolville near Warren has been locked up since Tuesday to await a detention hearing Monday in federal court.
The case was cracked when a man who had been treated in the ER last month tipped off police about the offer.
The man says he was asked by the ER nurse if he "ever killed anyone."
The Cleveland Clinic says Martin has been suspended without pay.
Martin's attorney, Donald Gallick, says the evidence in the case is thin and he can't figure out why his client was charged.
