CLEVELAND - As cities across Northeast Ohio are still cleaning up the damage from Hurricane Sandy, the city of Cleveland would like to remind residents of a few guidelines in regards to debris pickup.

As of Saturday afternoon, debris from privately owned trees will be removed by the Division of Waste on regularly scheduled pick-up under the following guidelines:

-Must be cut into lengths no longer than 3 feet

-Branches must be bundled (no wider that 24 inches in diameter)

-Should not exceed 100 lbs

Tree debris that does not meet the guidelines is the responsibility of the homeowner to have removed.

As always, crews should be easily identifiable. Contractors should not ask for full-payment upfront or personal information such as a social security or bank account number. Citizens should not be afraid to request identification, a written estimate or contract, and/or call the respective company if a worker requests access to a home or business.
