CLEVELAND - The city of Cleveland has added a new speed enforcement camera on the city’s east side.

The camera has been placed on Woodland Avenue near the intersection of East 45th.

City ordinance requires the city to give a 30-day notice before a camera issues tickets, so the traffic enforcement device will not begin giving tickets until March 21. But the police department said it may start issuing warning tickets to drivers starting March 8, which is permitted in the law.

The camera tracks the speed of vehicles passing by and takes photos of those exceeding the speed limit, triggering a speeding ticket to be mailed to the vehicle’s owner.

The new camera is actually taking the place of the one removed from East 88th and Broadway in July 2011.

According to the city, the camera was redeployed at the new location at the request of the Cleveland City Council.

What do you think about the traffic cameras? Have you ever gotten a ticket? Chime in via the comment box below.
