CLEVELAND - People working, visiting and living downtown Cleveland now have two more food options – and they’re located right next door to each other.

Chipotle Mexican Grill and J. Gumbo’s opened their doors for the first time Thursday morning. They’re located at 224 Euclid Ave. and 226 Euclid Ave. – just west of the House of Blues and a couple blocks east of Horseshoe Casino Cleveland.

Both restaurants occupy storefronts on Euclid Avenue that had been vacant for years, contributing to rebuilding of downtown.

“We are excited to be a part of the revitalization and positive energy currently taking place in downtown Cleveland,” said Brandon Salamone, owner of J. Gumbo's, in an email last July.

Chipotle, a national chain, will be open standard Chipotle hours – 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week. Other chain restaurants in the area – including Jimmy John’s, Potbelly Sandwich Shop and Zoup! – close early evening and are not open on Sundays.

J. Gumbo’s is a cajun and creole-style restaurant, and this is the company’s first to open in northeast Ohio. There are 11 other stores in the state -- all in the Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati areas.
