COPLEY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A chain-reaction crash overnight sent one person to the hospital and shocked the people who were there to see it happen.
It happened on Route 21 just north of Copley Road in Copley Township just northwest of Akron around 10:30 p.m. Monday night.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a car swerved to avoid hitting a deer and got stuck in a muddy mess in the median. The driver of the stuck car called a tow truck and as the tow truck driver was getting the car out another car drove up and hit the tow truck.
The driver of the Saturn SUV that hit the tow truck was taken to the hospital. Their injuries are said to be non-life threatening. The driver of the stuck car and tow truck operator were away from the crash and were not injured.
Though some communities in northeast Ohio have reported more deer than usual this year, a Copley Township Police dispatcher said the area is rural and deer accidents are common from time to time but numbers have not been greater this year.
