CLEVELAND - Case Western Reserve University police issued an alert after a student was approached by an armed robber late Monday night.
According to the alert, the robbery happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Martin Luther King Junior Drive.
Campus police said the student was walking when he was approached by a man who requested to use the student’s phone. When the student refused, the suspect lifted his shirt, exposed a pistol lodged in his waistband and again demanded the phone. The student then ran away.
According to police, the student was not harmed during the attempted robbery.
Police described the suspect as a black male with a thin build, between the ages of 16 and 18, and standing between 5'6" and 5'8" in height. The suspect was last seen traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Junior Drive wearing a tan baseball cap and tan shorts.
No arrests have been made in connection with the robbery.
