CLEVELAND - A new community center opens to keep alive the memory and service of late Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones.
The Stephanie Tubbs Jones Foundation and University Circle Inc. are unveiling the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Community Plaza at the corner of East 108th Street and East Boulevard at 11 a.m. Friday.
Ohio Gov.Ted Strickland, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, and other local leaders are expected to join Tubbs Jones’ son, Mervyn Jones, for the occasion, as well as Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, who replaced Tubbs Jones in Ohio’s 11th District.
Stephanie Tubbs Jones represented the 11th District from 1999 through 2008, when she died on Aug. 20, 2008 at the age of 58.
