CLEVELAND - Parishioners filled the pews of churches all around northeast Ohio Christmas Day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

At St. John Cathedral in downtown Cleveland, the Rev. Theodore Marszal presided over the 12:15 p.m. service, where several hundred church-goers gathered to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

Marszal preached to parishioners the importance of taking peace and faith, lessons learned while in church, with them to their homes, workplaces and neighborhoods.

"The year of faith asks all of us, not just priests and religious and deacons, but all of us, to live our Catholic faith in a very profound and wonderful way," shared Marszal during Tuesday's Homily.

During the General Intercessions portion of Mass, Marszal and the congregation prayed for all victims of tragedy, including victims of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
