CLEVELAND - Rock 'n' Roll Cleveland Half Marathon announced Friday that they would be adding a new 3.5 mile "Mini-Marathon" to the 2013 race that takes place on Oct. 6.
The Mini Marathon will feature all the fanfare and excitement of race day with the same start and finish as the half marathon.
“The shorter distance is a great way for runners to get a taste of the half marathon experience,” said Natalie Miyake, event manager, in a news release. “Now anyone can enjoy bands and cheer squads along the course as well as the finish line festival with a headliner concert. Additionally, the Mini Marathon can act as a stepping stone for participants who are interested in getting involved in running a longer distance in the future.”
Mini Marathon runners will receive the same perks as the half marathon participants, including an official race T-shirt, a finisher medal, one complimentary beer courtesy of Michelob Ultra and access to the finish line concert.
To sign up for the Mini Marathon, go to the Run Rock 'n' Roll website .
