CLEVELAND - Cleveland firefighters battled a fire in a multifamily apartment home on Decker Avenue near East 81st Street just before 3 a.m. Tuesday.
According to a first floor rear tenant, the fire started in the first floor front apartment in the four unit building. EMS crews at the scene said everyone got out safely. The rear tenant said she woke up to smoke filling her apartment and when she went outside she saw flames shooting from the building.
The upstairs two units are currently vacant according to the tenant. The fire damaged most of the first floor front apartment along with the siding and some of the roof.
The Red Cross is assisting the residents with a place to stay.
