CLEVELAND - Cleveland police have arrested a man they say choked another man to death early Tuesday morning on the city’s west side.
Police said they received a call of a man assaulting a woman along the 2200 block of West 101st Street just north of Western Avenue at 2:56 a.m.
The victim and his girlfriend were involved in a physical altercation when the girlfriend's brother showed up, according to police. They said the brother placed the victim in a choke hold and officers found an unresponsive 30-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said the 21-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene. The suspect has not yet been charged.
The girlfriend of the victim was taken to Fairview Hospital, where her condition is unknown.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released. The official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
