Cleveland breweries help out West Side Market vendors after fire with beer sales

CLEVELAND - The more beer two local breweries sell, the more money goes to help the West Side Market vendors get back on their feet following last week's fire.

The Market Garden Brewery has a brand new beer on tap.  It's called the West Side Market Recovery Lager. The brewery is donating 20 percent of the sale of that beer to West Side Market vendors.

"Since the fire, here at Market Garden Brewery, 38 percent of our sales has been the West Side Market Recovery Lager. I think people are supporting it because they love the West Side Market so much," said Sam McNulty, West Side Market partner.

The Great Lakes Brewing Company is also helping out. The brewery is bringing back its Butcher's Brew. That's a lager specially made to celebrate the West Side Market's 100th anniversary. 

All proceeds from those sales will benefit the market. 

"We would never have come to the neighborhood if it hadn't been for the West Side Market, so we have a lot of emotional bond with them, in addition to the business bond that we've developed over two decades," said Great Lakes Brewing Company co-owner Patrick Conway.

The Great Lakes Brewery hopes to raise $10,000 for the West Side Market vendors.
