CLEVELAND - Cleveland Councilman Zack Reed pleaded not guilty to all charges in Cleveland Municipal Court Wednesday morning following his third DUI arrest.
Reed was charged with four counts, including DUI, after being pulled over by police on East 9th and Rockwell Tuesday morning for failing to stop at a red light and making an improper turn, then failing a sobriety test.
The councilman said he has no plans to resign from his position.
"I owe myself an apology," Reed said after the hearing.
Reed said he thinks there will be a time when he will sit down with council and talk about this but right now he's continuing with his work representing Ward 2.
"Right now we have to deal with this legally and I still have a job to do," Reed said.
The councilman spent 10 days in jail following both of his previous arrests in 2005 and 2007. Following his second arrest, Reed also lost his license and was ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Reed spent 28 days at the Cleveland Clinic for alcoholism treatment in 2007 and has said the disease runs in his family.
He has served on council for 13 years.
Reed will next appear in court March 19.
