CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland Clinic holds its Seventh Annual Obesity Summit at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cleveland.
The two-day event will focus on the science and practice of obesity management, childhood obesity, new advances in drug therapies, obesity in the workplace, and the fetal origins of obesity.
The summit will bring leading minds in obesity research together discussing ways to end obesity.
Organizers said the event was in good timing as a report released Wednesday showed that 44 percent of Americans could be obese by 2030, costing the country tens of billions of dollars in healthcare costs and leading to millions more cases of diabetes, stroke, and heart disease.
The event will also focus on the health economics of obesity and will include a forum on obesity and public health care policy.
Dr. Steven Nissen will give the keynote address on obesity and the changing strategies in cardiovascular disease and prevention Thursday.
