Bike tour has tickets for sold-out Cleveland Indians home opener

CLEVELAND - Tickets are available to the Tribe's sold-out home opener against the Yankees, if you're willing to ride your bicycle to the game.

Bob Polk of Bob's Bike Tours has teamed up with the Indians for the second year offering a ticket to the game and a tour of Cleveland baseball history for $50.

"When I saw the schedule, my first thought was 'Do I have enough tickets?'" Polk said, adding the Yankees are always a big Cleveland draw, plus the Indians' moves in the off season have created a lot of interest in the team.

The tour includes a right field mezzanine ticket, a T-shirt and raffle tickets for prizes. Proceeds from the ride benefit Cleveland Indians Charities.

"The portion of it from our ride contributes to them goes to the Cleveland Baseball Federation, which helps kids in the inner city to get baseballs and equipment to play," he said.

The tour kicks off from the West Side Market at noon on April 8 and rides through town to the historic League Park at East 66th Street and Lexington Avenue, at the site where Cleveland baseball began in 1891.

Among the speakers at League Park will be artist Jerome White. White has painted eight murals to be included in the park's renovation and restoration.

One more stop before the 4:05 p.m. game is the Baseball Heritage Museum at the Colonial Arcade on Euclid Avenue, then on to Progressive Field.

As of the announcement of the sellout, Polk had 80 of his 100 tickets remaining.

There's an added benefit to the seats Polk has for what's usually a chilly April Cleveland day, "I made sure if we're going to have sun on Opening Day, we'll be in it."
