CLEVELAND - Two gay men in Ohio have sued over alleged anti-gay bias when they were arrested and locked up without their trousers for a day.

Steven Ondo and Jonathan Simcox filed the federal court lawsuit last month against the city of Cleveland and police and asked for unspecified damages.

They said an off-duty officer neighbor complained about a noisy argument on the street and attacked and punched them last April. They were arrested twice, the second time at home while lounging in T-shirts and underpants.

They claim they were called an anti-gay slur and were denied a chance to get trousers in jail for a day. They were charged with assaulting the officer but were acquitted at trial.

The city said Friday it will respond to the lawsuit in court.
