CLEVELAND - Cleveland Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Saturday afternoon.
According to Cleveland police, around 3:30 p.m. Verianna Ownens, 2, was struck by a car in her driveway on Somerset Avenue.
Owens was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital where she died as a result from her injuries.
According to police, the 40-year- old driver of a 2007 Chrysler 300 was driving west on Somerset Avenue. He attempted to turn into the driveway, but a car parked on the street obstructed the driver’s view of the driveway.
Police say, he driver struck the child as he pulled into the driveway. The driver did remain on scene and is cooperating with investigators at this time.
