SANDUSKY, Ohio - A fire early Friday morning at Cedar Point has temporarily closed a restaurant and some midway games.

A security guard noticed the fire at about midnight in the gaming warehouse. He notified the amusement park fire department who in turn called the Sandusky Fire Department.

The fire was under control by 1:15 a.m. No one was injured.

Cedar Point spokesman Robin Innes said that prizes and equipment for the games were destroyed in the blaze, including the plush items and stuffed animals.

The games office and the adjacent Johnny Rockets restaurant suffered water and smoke damage.

Innes said that the restaurant was undergoing a thorough cleaning and should reopen Friday afternoon.

Some of the games on the midway are open; others will open as soon as they are able. Several of the prizes have to be replenished.

There was no immediate cause for the fire. The Sandusky Fire Department is investigating.
