CLEVELAND - As lawmakers in Columbus continue to pour over senate bill 5, the bill that would bring an end to collective bargaining for public employees, workers here in Northeast Ohio plan to weigh in on the debate. There are several protests planned around the area Thursday.

The first rally against the bill is in Cleveland's Public Square at noon Thursday, in an event that is sponsored by Cleveland State University students.

Another event against the bill set for noon Thursday will take place in Ely Square in Elyria.

A third event protesting the bill is scheduled at the Lorain City Hall at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Northeastern Ohio Education Association is hosting a rally against the bill at 4:30 p.m. at Cuyahoga Falls High school.

Lastly, Gov. John Kasich, the face of the push for Senate Bill 5 will speak Thursday to the Akron Chamber of Commerce at 4:00pm Thursday. That event will take place at GoJo Industries in Akron.

About Senate Bill 5, Governor Kasich said, "it is fair for a person to get into an agreement, a discussion, a bargaining on their pay. But there are some things that the tax payers and the people that represent them ought to have control of because if we do not have control, we're not going to fix Ohio."

Meantime, Rev. Jessie Jackson is now one of the faces against the bill. At a rally in Columbus Wednesday, Jackson said, " workers have the right to fight back. Protect your head, protect your dignity, protect collective bargaining!"
