CANTON, Ohio - You’re seeing holiday decorations inside local stores, but when is it too early to start hearing Christmas music? Northeast Ohio radio stations are taking a poll.
My 101.7 in Canton, which claims it's "Canton's Christmas Music Station," posted a poll on its website asking its listeners when the station should start playing everyone’s favorite holiday tunes 24/7.
The options include:
- Right after Halloween
- Mid-November
- Thanksgiving
- December 1st
- Around December 15th
- Christmas Eve
- Never!
Regional Programming Manager Keith Kennedy told NewsChannel5 the results of the poll overwhelmingly -- as they have in the past -- pointed to the station playing the holiday tunes right after Halloween. Once the cooler weather settled in, the station flipped the switch.
The poll was posted here: http://on.wews.com/UbR1p1
A station in Cleveland, New 102 (WDOK), is hosting a similar poll. Vote in that poll here: http://on.wews.com/RHUHSC . The station told NewsChannel5 via Twitter that "the results will heavily influence the decision."
