AKRON, Ohio - A man and woman were shot in a driveway behind a home in the 600 block of East Avenue at about 10:15 Monday night.
According to police, the man was pronounced dead sitting inside a car at the scene at 10:42 p.m.
The Summit County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Deshawn Dwayne Smith, 18, of Akron.
The woman was taken to the hospital and her condition is unknown.
Police were interviewing a large group of people individually, but information about the shooter or shooters was unavailable.
Neighbors told NewsChannel5 they heard about 10 shots from what they described as a machine gun.
Police were seen placing evidence markers in two separate driveways along East Avenue.
The identities of the victims were not released.
