AKRON, Ohio - North Howard Street was closed in Akron between Cuyahoga Street and Glenwood Avenue after a driver crashed into three utility poles just after midnight Thursday.
According to Akron police the driver and his passenger were taken to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries.
Police said the driver was southbound on North Howard Street when he went left of center and hit the first utility pole.
The car then hit a second pole snapping it in half. The car then traveled another 70 feet before hitting a third utility pole.
The car was wrapped around the last pole but did not cause any significant damage to that pole.
Crews from Ohio Edison were at the scene beginning to asses the damage just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
