AKRON, Ohio - A woman is in stable condition after being thrown from her car on Route 59 near Howard Street in Akron Sunday night.

According to Akron police, the woman was northbound on Route 59 when she hit a guard rail. The impact tore the driver door off of her car. Because she wasn't wearing a seatbelt, she was thrown out of the car.

The area was closed for about two hours while police investigated the crash.

No one else was in the car with woman and no other cars were involved in the crash.

The road reopened around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
