AKRON, Ohio - Richard Beasley, the accused mastermind of the craigslist murders, took the stand in his own defense this week.
Beasley is on trial for allegedly killing three men and wounding another after luring them with a fake job as a farm hand in Noble County on craigslist.
The bodies of Ralph Geiger and David Pauley were found in shallow graves in Caldwell, Ohio. The body of Timothy Kern was found in a shallow grave, in a wooded area behind Rolling Acres Mall in Akron, Ohio.
Scott Davis, the only survivor, said he was shot in the elbow by Beasley, but escaped after the gun jammed. Beasley testified that he was actually the target of Scott Davis for giving information to police about a motorcycle gang.
“It misfired three times about two feet from my face and I ran into the woods and he ran after me,” Beasley said.
Beasley also claimed that the two wrestled on the muddy ground and Davis ended up firing six shots.
“I said, ‘That’s your six,’ so if he was going to kill me, he was going to have to do it with his hands,” Beasley explained.
