AKRON, Ohio - A pretrial hearing scheduled Wednesday for John Wise, the man accused of fatally shooting his wife at an Akron area hospital has been postponed.

Wise pleaded not guilty to shooting his wife of 45 years at a hospital in a suspected mercy killing.

According to police, Wise was armed with a gun when he went to his wife's room and pulled the trigger. There was a doctor in the room at the time of the incident, but the doctor wasn't injured.

The Wises had been married for 45 years.

The hearing will now be held Oct. 24 at 10 a.m.
