CANTON, Ohio - A motorcyclist was killed on Cleveland Avenue NW near 49th Street NW after rear-ending a van at a high rate of speed just after midnight Thursday.

The Stark County Coroner confirmed the motorcyclist killed has been identified as Nicholas Powell, 30, of Canton.

The van suffered heavy damage to both rear doors and some of the windows were broken out.

Canton police closed Cleveland Avenue NW at North Lawn Cemetery while they reconstructed the accident.

Police did not release any details into the crash. The driver of the van was at the scene talking with police and appeared to be uninjured.
