AKRON, Ohio - A pipe with duct tape on it caused quite the stir in downtown Akron Wednesday morning.
The pipe was discovered outside of council chambers in the Akron City Municipal Building at about 8:30 a.m. and was thought to be a bomb, so the building was evacuated. The tape covered both ends of the pipe.
Police checked out the device and found that it was not a bomb or anything suspicious at all.
Investigators later found out the "pipe" was a walking stick belonging to a man named James Kaboom, and he left it there by mistake afters attending a city council meeting.
The evacuation was lifted at about 9:30 a.m.
