AKRON, Ohio - Akron police are investigating after a woman in her 50s was struck and killed by a hit-skip driver on Darrow Road near Eastwood Avenue around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
According to police, the woman was crossing Darrow Road when she was hit with a Chevy Blazer, and the driver then left the scene.
Rebecca Altuz, a 58-year-old, was identified as the victim.
A night shift traffic officer followed up on the hit-skip and located the vehicle involved involved in the crash in the 2100 block of Newton Street. Akron police arrested 67-year-old Jimmie Kirkman Jr.
Kirkman was charged with felony hit-skip and booked into the Summit County Jail.
