Pedestrian hit and killed on I-76 east in Akron over weekend identified

AKRON, Ohio - The man hit by a car and killed over the weekend on I-76 eastbound in Akron has been identified.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said Phah Lah, 63, of Akron, died at the scene early Saturday morning.

The incident happened around midnight Saturday near the East Market Street exit. Witnesses told police Lah ran out in front of a tractor-trailer. The semi driver swerved to avoid hitting the man, but another vehicle, traveling in the middle lane, struck him.

The eastbound lanes of I-76 were closed for several hours overnight.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
