AKRON, Ohio - Akron police shutdown the Kenmore Leg eastbound for nine hours after a tractor trailer overturned Monday morning.

Police said it happened at 9 a.m. and forced officials to close U.S. Route 224 eastbound at the I-277 ramp.

Traffic was being detoured via Rt. 224 eastbound to I-77 north. Drivers were urged to avoid the area, if possible, or expect lengthy delays.

Crews worked to clean up debris following the crash, along with the large aluminum load the truck was carrying that spilled along the highway.

Akron police said the 31-year-old truck driver from Arkansas was going too fast when he lost control around the curve. The driver has been cited for failure to control.

The Kenmore Leg reopened at 6:10 p.m.
