AKRON, Ohio - Police are looking for a man in connection with a fatal shooting in Akron Wednesday night.
According to detectives, shortly before 10 p.m., a man was shot while sitting in a car near the intersection of Buckingham Street and Fairbanks Place.
Police told NewsChannel5 that the man was alive when he was transported from the scene to an Akron City Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 10:38 p.m.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Will Lamon of Akron, saying he died of a gunshot wound to the torso.
Late Thursday morning, police said an aggravated murder warrant was issued for the arrest of 24-year-old Phillip Pope of Akron. Detectives said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Investigators said the shooting appears to be domestic related.
Police had a large area of Buckingham Street between Fairbanks Place and Boone Street surrounded by crime scene tape.
