AKRON, Ohio - You don't need to worry if you see emergency vehicles, SWAT teams and bomb squads in action across the University of Akron campus Wednesday.
The campus is holding a mock disaster drill between 2 and 8 p.m., the university said in a news release. They said the drill is a county-wide emergency response exercise and three different mock incidents will occur.
Activities will be centered on College of Arts and Sciences building, Knight Chemical and InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.
University officials said anyone in or near the buildings may be instructed to leave or stay where they are for a short period of time depending on the mock incident.
Warning announcements will sound from indoor and outdoor systems but will note that it is an exercise.
The university said it will be the first large-scale event testing its reworked emergency plan.
