AKRON, Ohio - A man was shot in the middle of East Voris Street just before 1 a.m Friday.
According to Akron detectives, the victim was walking from a home on Allyn Street to a home on East Voris Street when a man approached him and confronted him. The men began to fight in the middle of the street.
During the fight, the suspect shot the victim in the stomach and fled on foot. The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. His condition is unknown, but he is expected to survive.
Police said the suspect had previously threatened to shoot the victim. Police said they know who the shooter is and have filed a warrant for his arrest.
No further information about the suspect or the victim was released by police.
There was also a crime scene on Allyn Street where the victim’s girlfriend tried to transport the victim to a hospital, but decided to wait for paramedics.
